History of our farm: My great grandfather homesteaded here in 1906, and my grandfather and father after him. I left the farm in 93, pursuing a Masters Degree. But when I pictured home, this is what I pictured, and this is the lifestyle I wanted.
Why are you involved in HMS: I wanted to be part of a group of like-minded people, and hope that it will build a market for my animals.
McDonald Farm is a family owned and operated farm near Cartwright in southwestern Manitoba. We offer pastured, free-range pork from Berkshire pigs, an heirloom breed renowned for the exceptional taste and texture of their meat. We also have gourmet grass-fed beef and lamb from animals that have been genetically selected for tenderness and flavor. Our grass-fed philosophy creates meat that is low in calories and saturated fat, but rich in taste.
